The Greatest Sacrifice

John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Sacrifice is a word that we can relate to pain, effort, and commitment; and it is done to achieve a certain goal. Oftentimes, we give up our money, resources, and time because we know that there’s always a better result of our sacrifice.

To achieve a better look and be physically fit, many of us sacrifice our cravings for food through proper diet. We give time for exercise and also going to gym. This is just one example of what sacrifice means. Giving up some things that are valuable to you for a good cause.

But what if saving the lives of everyone means giving up your own life; are you ready to make that sacrifice? Jesus did so and this is the greatest sacrifice ever happened. Jesus died not for the righteous but for the sinners, and that includes you.

This is the kind of sacrifice that is selfless and full of love. What did Jesus gain in doing this? It is our salvation! This is the true kind of love He wants us to see and experience (John 15:13). He gave His very own life for us. Nothing for Himself. This is God (1 John 4:8b).

Are you willing to sacrifice everything for Him? Are you willing to give up your life, take up the cross, and follow Jesus? For those who give up their own life for the Lord will surely have eternal life. Follow Jesus! Do it now!
